OUR STORY

SERVING UP THE GOOD OLD DAYS

Before Mr. Hotdogs & Hamburgers, I spent years behind the wheel of a truck, travelling across North America. Being on the road took me through big cities, small towns and places I probably never would have discovered otherwise. Along the way, some of my favourite stops weren’t the big chains or flashy restaurants. They were the places that felt like they had a story.

The old roadside diners that looked like they hadn’t changed in decades. The hidden burger joints you’d only know about if somebody told you. The little hotdog stands where the person behind the counter knew their regulars by name. There was something special about those places — the old signs, the simple menus, the smell of food coming off the grill — but more importantly, the people. You could sit down, have a great meal and actually connect with whoever was around you. Those experiences stayed with me, and eventually I wanted to create a version of that feeling myself. That’s how Mr. Hotdogs & Hamburgers — Vintage Street Eats began.

MORE THAN A HOTDOG CART

We live in a time when we’re more connected than ever, yet it can sometimes feel like we’re spending less time actually connecting. There’s always another notification. Another message. Another reason to look down at our phones instead of at the people sitting across from us.

I wanted Mr. Hotdogs & Hamburgers to be a small reminder of something different. A cart people gather around. Food cooked right in front of you. A cold glass-bottle pop. Music, conversation, laughter and that feeling of stumbling across an old roadside stand on a summer afternoon. That’s why every part of our experience — from the cart and uniforms to the menu, signage and food — is inspired by the nostalgic diners and hidden roadside joints I discovered during my years on the road.

We’re not trying to recreate one particular decade. We’re trying to recreate a feeling. A time when food brought people together, conversations lasted a little longer, and some of the best memories were made around a simple meal. So when we roll into your wedding, birthday, corporate gathering or backyard celebration, we’re bringing more than burgers and hotdogs. We’re serving up the good old days.
